I Googled to find out more about this animal. "A fossa is neither a cat nor a dog, but a unique carnivore exclusive to Madagascar and is most closely related to the mongoose and civet. While the fossa shares some physical characteristics with cats, such as retractable claws, it belongs to the family Eupleridae, a group of Malagasy carnivores that descended from mongoose-like ancestors."
