Here on the Columbia River in Washington and Oregon they used giant slingshots that they would make to fit in the trailer hitch on a pickup. Of course they use anywhere from eight oz weights clear up to a couple of pounds. They fish for huge sturgeon and have been known to have caught 15-18 footers off shore. Sometimes if a boater is close by they will come get the person and let them fight it from the boat. Good times
