You are supposed to put the dye in the in the tank, not the bowl. Then if the dye gets to the bowl without flushing, something is either leaking or the shut off valve is faulty and the water continues to run after the bowl is full.

Put the dye in the toilet tank. Do not flush. Leave the toilet alone for several hours. if the water in the bowl changes color, the flush valve in the tank is leaking. Duh.

What is the trick? As best I can figure she put green dye in her toilet. Then she flushed the toilet. I wish grandpa had taught her the logic behind his 'trick'.

I do it in a big bowl on a table with eggs and many different colors. Then I hide away and eat chocolate eggs and bunnies til the kids catch me!
