I once dated a young lady for approx 1 1/2yrs and her son, 6yr, asked her if it was ok to call me dad,and she freaked out. Turned out she had never divorced and later found out she was using me for financial support, and still was hooking up with the real father. I was really bummed out when I found out, I thought I was going for the long term.
Your sweet little boy and people saying anything about you ask your stepmom could call her mom. It’s none of their business you can call her mom or whatever her name is.

I had a step-daughter who was 2 when we (1st hus) married,(25yrs ago)that called me momma🥰 or mommy Tami, it was the sweetest thing and made me feel so loved and that i was doing her right.❤️ I now have 3 step-sons with my now hubby,(13 yrs) and its a far stretch to ever hear, even one of them, introduce me as their stepmom. Their mother makes sure of them not recognizing me as bein any part of their lives, except "the one their father married." Going on 13 yrs now. My twins(now 31) recognize my husband as their stepdad, and treat him as Dad. Always have, and he treats them as his own. Even my kids friends have always called me their "other mom" lol as long as i can remember. I have atleast 5 "other" kids, that when they see me or will call and say "hey mom" or "mom" this, or "Mom" that. So only prob here is the husbands ex. Its so sad the 3 boys had to grow up with, and carry their mothers resentment towards me.😞🙏
