you can’t force a cat to adjust it takes time this is a beautiful cat and you need to give it time to adjust. You adopt a cat for their lifetime and you make adjustments. You don’t take it back to the shelter and abandon it again😭💔

returned animals to a shelter usually are put on the euthanasia list in a kill shelter, due that they don't have to let the animal fir a hold time, because it isn't a stray, and being he was returned they are the first to be euthanized.

maybe you should have noticed he max needed a cat playmate because max was lonely to some time ago max was close to another cat maybe Max needs a car buddy to adjust to you so Max an a new friend he made at the shelter plays together. get max the cat his buddy cat he misses at the shelter it would be easier for 2 cat playmates to play together with each other an play with you as well. Max is lonely for a playmate kitty.
