I would have taken the phone away and grounded her for talking back the way she did. She is being taught responsibility and to be an active participant in a household which will help her live on her own. Manual labor would be part of being grounded too.

I poured the garbage out on both of my kids beds. And then made them clean it up along with cleaning their sheets by hand in the middle of the night. I gave them until the time I came back home.

Parents are too busy trying to be friends. My oldest son wasn't doing his homework. His dad wasn't participating in setting boundaries. I told my son he needed to work on his grades or else. His grades came in and I was not happy at all. I bought everything he needed put it in the car; woke him up , told him to get in the car. When he woke up, we were in North Carolina, stopping for breakfast. He asked if we were going to the beach; I said no. We arrived at Camden Military Academy in South Carolina. He couldn't believe I was serious. I told him I couldn't do jail and he needed a education. Best expense I've ever made for him.

when my adult kids were younger they each h had individual chore lists...everything on the list has to be done by 5pm Fridays...if I had to pick up after them I kept everything & the following Friday they had to use their allowance to buy back their items...at the end of the month anything not claimed/ bought back disappeared...both kids are adults now & have tidy homes lol
