Typhoon Haiyan, locally known as Yolanda, struck the Philippines on November 8, 2013. It’s one of the strongest tropical cyclones ever recorded, with winds over 195 mph and storm surges that swallowed entire coastal towns. More than 6,000 lives were lost and millions were displaced, leaving a lasting scar on the country. The footage here shows the unimaginable power of that storm as it unfolded in real time.
