Yes who cares about the environment? My father ran heavy equipment back in the 70s and funny thing they have a special grease fitting on the rollers and idler that you scrub the mud off, wire brush and then lube up with two gallon bucket with pump. Might as well pour the three gallons of engine oil on the ground. Why do you think we have so many poisonous wells in US military bases? Starting in WW1 then into 21st century just dump hydrocarbons and other chemicals anywhere and cover with fresh dirt.

Do that in America probably get arrested. But now you see exactly what the people living in other countries care about the environment. So we have all these laws to follow but the countries we give millions if not billions in foreign aid to do not. But if I was to venture a guess a lot of people do that here also

If that was real, it would be like dumping a jug of oil on the ground. You don’t lube the track anyway.

That used motor oil will last about 10 full revolutions of the tracks in travel...it's manganese steel, manganese trunnions , manganese idlers with alloy steel bearings. Proper track tension is key for proper wear. If you notice that newer dozers have high tri final drives keeping the final drive sprocket out of stone and dirt adding to time to function. The forces on heavy equipment components are incredible. There is a very small percentage of boron mixed in with booms, track carriages and slightly more in hydraulic hammer bits/points.

This is how people in other countries treat the environment. They don’t have a quarter of the EPA rules and regulations that we have here in the United States.

and how long will it last until that oil has attracted dirt and allowed dirt to get into the crevices yet again you would have to have something constantly running to flush the dirt out

avator

Helps the dirt stick to the rollers and tracks. And actually increases wear.
