I had to tell two women that one day, when I was holding the door for my female family members, they didn't like that but they knew to stand down and allow them to walk through the door first.

i worked in a building with 6000 people. i would have to go thru many sets of double doors. often when i would open my side to go thru a person coming the opposite way would step over and go thru the door. i soon learned to place my body at the opening as i opened it and block them. they almost never said thank you if i let them thru. i observed two kinds of people did this almost exclusively...Asian men and blonde white women. I'm a blonde white woman but my parents taught me manners.

My husband is gone and I loved he would hold the door for females and seniors he was a real gentleman.
