can somebody who has who has some type of clout, a scientist physicist please explain to him in layman's terms why pilots don't have to do this. it boggles the mind how new generations don't know a damn thing about science. this is something we learned in sixth grade. it really amazes me how he can't retain this knowledge
pilots maintain an altitude... if you zoom out in distance and accelerate time sure the flight path is a curve, but from the perspective of anyone flying you are just maintaining the same altitude so at a fixed point in time the plane and ground are parallel. this is why most mathematicians and physicists dont use hand gestures as reference to explaining something as large as a flight path or the planet.

theres an equal amount of gravity pulling on the plane. it feels like your flying straight but the gravity makes the plane fly around the curvature. thats why when they get to altitude they put it in auto pilot they stay at the same elevation and dont fly off I to space. I cannot believe how dumb people are nowadays

"level" is a horizontal line perpendicular to gravity... gravity is towards the earth, and if earth is a globe, then "level" is a spherical plane described by a set distance from its center. which means flying level isn't flying straight, it's flying in a downward arc due to maintaining a level flight path, and that works exactly the same way on a globe as it does on a flat plane. the logic neither proves nor disproves either a flat or global earth.
