It’s called a flash flood. We get them in Arizona. We were camping one time and water started flowing down the dry wash from above in the mountain. The water just started coming down. Thank God we were camped several feet away from the river dry wash on a little higher plateau. So we were safe, but this is scary it can happen.
Tip......if you have never seen something before and it don't look right...... RUN

I see this and can't help but think of NC and Texas ...
I lived in the central interior of Alaska for 43 years and we have those on our creeks, streams and rivers every spring during breakup. It's pretty impressive especially when it happens on one of the larger rivers like the Chena or Tanana you can hear the ice grinding together from a couple of miles away. 💕

This happened a few years ago at the campground I used to spend summers at. It tore up or flooded a lot of campers, and the elderly couple who owned the place had to be rescued from their home. It also took out a part of the road above the river, and the roads were closed for weeks.

Makes me think about the Blizzard when Philadelphia put all the snow in the River and when spring time came it flooded some homes it made the river overflow its banks they put a lot of snow didn’t know where to put all the 36inches. They didn’t think it be that bad 🤔
