This movie wrecked me. Even though they changed the story to an American tale, they stayed true to the story of Hachi. The movie "Hachi: A Dog's Tale" is based on the true story of Hachikō, a Japanese Akita dog who lived in the early 1920s and 30s. Hachikō's owner, Professor Hidesaburō Ueno, would take the train to work, and Hachikō would accompany him to the station and wait for his return each day. After Professor Ueno passed away, Hachikō continued to return to the station at the same time every day for nearly ten years, waiting for his owner's arrival. His unwavering loyalty became a symbol of devotion in Japan, and he is remembered today through statues and stories.
