FYII was born in Florida & lived here most of my 79 years & first snow I remember I couldn't go out in it & it broke my heart at 8 years old. The snow that hit NW Florida etc. was so much deeper. I had over 6 inches in the community I live in. The reason we can't get out on the roads is we so not have equipment to clear the roads because it is not normally necessary. Very few emergency vehicles are equipped & certainly not school busses. Our government, thank God, wants it citizens to stay off the roads for our safety. It's the smart thing to do. Who knows in the future if we will have the equipment that is only needed once every 8-10 years. Is your state able to deal with Hurricanes 2-3 times a year possible (or more).I lived through 2 Blizzards in Nebraska & roads & schools were closed both times. & just playing in the snow. It was great, especially for our children that had never been able to experience it before.. . no shoveling either.
