These officers did the right thing. . Some of you need to think before you type. - 1. There are civilians around. 2. Are there passengers or children in the vehicle? 3. They have audio and video. 4. There is air support. 5. They can execute a properly obtained warrant after surveillance. There are options. But to unload in this situation could and would likely backfire on the officers. Now if the driver continued to attempt another pass at the officer(s) then perhaps shots at tires and engine to disable the vehicle and block the egress routes. But just opening fire, wrong answer.

We left Memphis in the fall of 2022 because of the crime . We left a beautiful home in the suburb of Bartlett, a wonderful church, many friends and family, and now live in a small rural town in Alabama. I predicted 8 years ago that if the mayor and city council didn't get a grip on the crime we would become like Detroit. it is now the #1 most violent city per capita in the nation. I pray for my family and will never go back.

The perpetrator was likely driving his own vehicle, the plates of which will identify him. He will have to answer for not just robbery, but assault on a PO, and failure to comply. I would have dropped the driver if I were the officer getting hit. Graham v. Connor says that force has to be "objectively reasonable," and committing an armed robbery places the severity of the crime at a pretty significant level.
