Ukraine gave up those weapons and believed what they were told. In 2014 Putin invaded and annexed Crimea, part of Ukraine that gave Russia better access to the Black Sea. In 2022 Putin ordered a full scale invasion of Ukraine, the Russian military expected to overrun the country in a matter of weeks. It didn’t turn out that way. After more than million Russian casualties Russia controls about 20% of Ukraine. Now Trump wants the Ukrainians to give up land and rights to end the war. Trump hasn’t called for the return of about 20,000 Ukrainian children who were kidnapped by Russia and are now being integrated into Russian families. Instead of forcing Putin to pay reparations in the billions of dollars, Trump is refusing to condemn Russian war crimes and call for international trials. Now tell me why anyone should trust Putin or Trump.
