Had a similar "encounter" with bison at Custer. Was in stopped traffic when one of the fellas decided to walk up to my car window, passenger side, and peer in at me through the closed window. That was WAY too close for me.
Just that sound alone would convince me that it's best to leave them the hell alone. What a thrill to see that- magnificent animals!! 🥰
