I remember seeing longer video of this incident. The bear killed one of her baby calfs, and then came back for the other. Managed to grab the baby in his mouth while being chased by the mother. She could only watch both her babies taken by the bear. The forest ranger at that center indicated it was a common occurrence with moose Mother's and that same bear. Even though it was a nature show/video, it was still heart breaking to hear the little moose cry out. 😢😭

This was a mama moose who had just lost 1 of her twin calves to this bear. Apparently, the bear went back for another meal, but Mom wasn't having it this time.

both of these animals look like youngsters the bear is still coming into its adult colors and isnt even as big as some of the boulders on the ground and the moose is a young male and doesn't have any characteristics of a female so both are just young and probably in their hormones about dominance and territory.

As an outdoorsman in Alaska for 33 years I saw my fair share of wildlife. No problem with moose, keep distance from those damn bears, though. Tempermental and unpredictable.

Most probably the bear was trying to get the calf. Mother mooses usually go near humans with their calves because they feel more secure.
