Annual trends: 2013: 4,944 deaths. 2018: 14,666 deaths. 2023 (Peak): 29,449 to 30,833 deaths. 2024 (Provisional): Approximately 22,174 deaths, marking a 27% decline from the previous year. Fentanyl involvement: By 2023, approximately 80% of cocaine-involved overdose deaths also involved synthetic opioids
