Since Chicago is harboring and shielding illegal immigrants, which is against the law Section 8 USC 1324, perhaps they should try this; if their goal is truly to help, sponsorship is available. They can choose to sponsor an individual or a family by completing Form I-864, the Affidavit of Support, and you must understand that this makes you "fully responsible" for food, shelter, education, medical care, and transportation, with no government stipend or funding provided. It’s a serious legal and financial commitment; this is the lawful way to do it rather than encouraging people to ignore federal immigration law, forcing ALL Illinois citizen taxpayers foot the bill.
