It's going to take a long time to clean up the crime in Chicago. In 2023, the FBI estimated that Chicago had over 100,000 violent street gang members of many different gangs. They have turned Chicago into a war zone of killings. Mostly over drug turf and retaliation killings. The mayor of Chicago refuses to do anything about these criminals. Same with the governor of Illinois. The law-abiding citizens of Chicago live in constant fear.
