I think that's a great thing I think any man or woman that is paying child support to the spouse that they divorced should be able to claim that child on their taxes as a dependent because they're giving child support to support the child

Sooo the child support payer gets the taxes back …. Sleepless nights, going to work half dead , hospital trips , worrying , daycare , making sure they are eating sleeping and keeping healthy , the embarrassing favor asking to watch your kids on day you get called in to work , clothes from underwear to shoes so they can be ok , paying part of my chk to medical…… alone. Strong the person that do all this alone . The other person just has to worry about themselves. So interesting if this happens . But whatever keep your tax return but every penny counts going towards the kids .

Wrong. The new law is giving a separate tax credit to the parent paying child support. Child support is NOT free money to the custodial parent. It is a REIMBURSEMENT of money already spent on the child. The custodial parent still claims the child on their taxes and also gets a tax credit. Child support is a means to support your child, not a means to abuse your ex. Some of you need to seriously educate yourselves.
This is dumb. Both parents are required to support their children, and the person who has most of the custody gets the payment from the other. In a 50/50 split, normally no one gets a check, they just both contribute. The courts sort out how to make this fair - not Donald
