We have an air force base in Qatar. We can train them there. There is no reason for foreign soldiers and their military equipment to be based in freaking Idaho. Unless he is getting worried about a military coup and wants a personal army as backup

Qatar is not building a sovereign military base in Idaho. Instead, it is establishing a training facility at Mountain Home Air Force Base, a U.S.-controlled site. Announced in October 2025 by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Qatari Defense Minister Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the facility will host Qatari F-15 fighter jets and pilots for joint training with U.S. forces. The goal is to strengthen military cooperation and readiness. This is not unprecedented—Singapore already trains at the same base. The U.S. does not allow foreign nations to build independent bases on its soil. Some far-right figures have falsely claimed this is a “jihadi base,” but these accusations are politically motivated and misleading. The facility remains under U.S. oversight and is part of a long-standing tradition of allied training partnerships.

I see this as a strategic move to strengthen our alliance in the Middle East region. Firstly, our national security isn’t at risk, as this is simply a training facility; Not an actual base! In fact, our military provides training to different national militaries around the globe, all of the time for various purposes. Secondly, Qatar will finance this facility as to not be a burden to US taxpayers. Thirdly, let’s not be hypocritical. Many United States allies allow the United States to build, maintain, and operate from Forward Operations Bases on their lands, all across the globe… So why shouldn’t we? Fourthly, unlike some nations, who simply use United States resources yet don’t contribute; Qatar is one the few nations in which help the United States benefit economically in our national, and foreign interests. I see this as a win, as does Trump!
