In 1950 according to data from the US census only 9% of black families we raised in single parent households. By 1960 that number had increased to 33%. Various welfare legislation passed in 1964 did however lead to higher divorce rates and higher rates of single parent households in the black community. By 1970 66% of black children lived in single parent households primarily as the result of divorce in separation. In 1980 that figure had dropped to 52%. In 1990 it had creeped up to 55% been down to 48% in 2000. It is apparent that welfare was not responsible for the initial increase in single parent households, but it certainly may have attributed to the increase following the passage of the legislation.

Most people that get on these programs have no intention of ever getting off of them. Kick a kid out at 18-19 years old and have a few more. Fast forward to when the woman is in her mid 40s or later and they still have kids under 18 giving them a free ride. Those people are not tax payers. The few thousand they pay in all year, working to qualify for these programs. Is dwarfed in comparison to what they take out of the system. Few more months and it’s tax season. Money money money 💴 I bet some baby daddies will come sniffing around about that time again. Lol
