𝐀𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐨𝐧-𝐂𝐚𝐡𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐚 𝐇𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬,𝐈𝐋 Update: Investigators confirmed that prior to the discovery of White, her daughter had been watching a live broadcast on Facebook and became concerned when she was unable to reach her mother by phone. The daughter reportedly reached out during the live stream and requested assistance in having law enforcement conduct a welfare check at the residence. Lieutenant Andrew Pierson of the Major Case Squad stated that investigators believe the two deaths are connected and not random in nature. Authorities also emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public. However, as of Sunday afternoon, the individual believed to be responsible remains at large. While investigating the death of a 67-year-old man at a residence in Cahokia Heights, investigators with the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis made a second discovery at a nearby home involving a 44-year-old woman. Authorities say both individuals died as a result of gunshot wounds. According to the Major Case Squad, officers initially responded to a report of a shooting and found 67-year-old Bruce A. Mason of Maryville, Illinois, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. As the investigation continued, detectives obtained and executed a search warrant at another residence in the same area Saturday afternoon. Inside that residence, investigators found 44-year-old Laniya Joyce White of East St. Louis suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
