The security guard has been charged with murder. The man he shot was a regular at McDonald's where this took place. The Security guard claimed that he was loitering. Now the security guard is in Jail, charged with murder and no bond.

He wasn’t supposed to be in the store he refused to leave and this was the outcome no clue as to why the security was charged though if he had used his voice then baton then pepper spray before his gun what else is he to do? He was trained to do exactly this… I was a security guard in Portland for a while and stopped because my friends were being charged with assault for doing their job…. Like grabbing someone from behind and body slamming they stupid ass because he has a chick by the throat punching her unconscious body how was my buddy charged he deleted the threat right? Because the slam broke his spine and his legs don’t work anymore

it happened so fast and I know he started it but If you can't fight it is best to have a safety weapon but you can't just start it and then just end it like that.
As an armed security officer he was dead ass wrong...after he let go of the weapon he shouldve stopped instead of escalating it by hitting him once again smh
fake ass rent a cop. when they fail the actual police test they become security guards. the majority of failures are due to over aggressive behavior and a lack of communication devoid of the ability to de-escalate.

security officer or police was wrong he struck suspected sailer without cause when he should have walked away after seizing weapon which his main priority at that was just that getting the weapon away.of course the assailent is go fight back any body would after a hit like that for no reason he was walking away

Why didn’t he just leave private property when asked? I wouldn’t be surprised I’m hit with a baton if I advance on an establishments private security… where is the accountability?
tough call. on one hand, the guard likely had good reason to approach the guy and turn thing physical. on the other hand, pun intended, he wacked that guy in the hand which rightfully pissed him off. Pepper spray or a tazer would have been a much better use of tools to subdue the man. however, once the guy started attacking the guard, everything that happened at that point was self defense and the gunshot was definitely justified. ita unfortunate but because the guard was on duty and responding to the situation, he wont be considered the "aggressor" as some of the comments suggest. instead he was doing his job. you could argue he did a poor job at his job, but it doesnt change the fact that he was doing his job and used lethal force within the boundaries of the law.
