Whe you plant your seed you have to spread them out
a mistake you'll only make once
maybe a batch of bad seeds
why didn't you use a little hand shovel to dig that up instead of using your hands
my husband thought zuchinni and squash grew in the ground like carrots. we bought the plant at the store and this man thought it was one zuchinni or squash per plant.

Carrots need space to grow
they were carrots that she didn't cull so they didn't have room to develop. also she picked them way to early. carrots will stick their heads over the soil when they're ready
the carrots cant developed if they are planted that close together. they are taking too much nutrients from one spot to actually grow
Its a bunch of carrots planted too closely so the carrot root can't develop. You could thin it out, let it go to seed and plant those seeds next season. You could also just harvest the green tops. They have loads of nutrients and flavor.

That was carrot. If you look closely at the roots, each little sprig would be a full carrot if they were not planted so close together. I have personally made this mistake. They will not grow fat if they are crowded. Radishes do the same thing.
