That's a manatee, and they're endangered/protected! Y'all are in trouble! They often migrate from the waters of Lake Michigan down to Florida ponds to winter. They're generally docile but, when provoked, have been known to attack everything from curious children all the way up to Dall Sheep (when they migrate from the mountains in Colorado to the mountains in Florida).
