So should I run a torch on the oil pan?
Not true
you sir win the internet today
when you get home and the oild in your rig is hot pull the plug drain the oil replace the plug pour the oil into quart jugs in the morning lut the quart jugs in a pan of hot water for 15 mins go out pour in the oil and bang starts riggt uo!
Use synthetic
that's why we have block heater D.A.
that's why the invented the block heater
Then what are you supposed to do? I have an idea
True, buuuttt...you should also never live anywhere that gets so cold 馃ザ 馃槴
that's some nasty sludged oil
I live in beautiful Mogadishu errrr Minneapolis...Id never leave the house if I followed his rules. We used to say the cold keeps the riff raff away. Obviously, I was lied to as a child lol
This is also why you put LUCAS in the block. AND a block heater.
So they make these things called heat tapes. Highly recommended if you live in the cold.
block heaters are a thing
Hopefully you have more oil than that in your vehicle.
0w-20 For extreme Weather..Plus NEVER Take short Trips..Short Trips your oil never gets hot which creates Moisture...
iDont take my oil outsyde myCar at nyte馃ぃ
That鈥檚 why (at least trucks) have a place to plug your truck in to a block heater so that doesn鈥檛 happen. Some truck have that option built into the truck or you use the magnetic one put on the oil pan
That is some old oil, in very small volume, 5w30.
Isn't that what Coolant/Anti-Freeze is for?
Why do you no put in winter oil, cheapo?
that is why you let it sit while it runs for a little bit before you actually drive it. duh 馃檮
I didn鈥檛 know motor oil freezes. Does brake fluid freeze too? Power steering? Wow. I have questions now.
Someone need to change that nasty oil, soon!
yeah. but once you start an engine. dont temp reach like 1.500 or something degrees or something like that
Oil change before winter with thinner oil.. pretty simple
it's a Chevy. it'll warm up馃槀 I gots ta go
or don't live in Minnesota
block heaters are. great.
Block heater. ?
So block heaters don鈥檛 exist????
Just park your truck inside your living room
this is why you never move to an area that's -25
Block heater ..
no that's moisture in the oil pan.. not the oil pan on the truck you goof
Yea never had that problem before 馃槀馃槀馃槀 Buy a new truck 馃槀馃槀馃槀
yah this is miss information when it is that cold this is why you start your car and let it get to operating temperature to thin your oil out and to charge your battery or there is the good old block heater to keep your oil warm
I think your using the wrong oil
this why most diesels have block heating systems
Use synthetic. It has a lower freezing point. 馃憤馃徏
I think starting it is fine, but taking off and giving it hell is probably a bad idea. Just start it and let it run for a while. It would be fine. Motor oil will warm up in plenty of time.
Try changing it
i I guess you need to put her engine block heater in it huh keep that oil hot
that's why you use winter oil
motor oil doesn't freeze. 馃槀
you got to let it warm up to operating temperature before driving
um. actually you SHOULD start it every 2 to 4 hrs so this doesn't happen. I'm Minnesota born and raised and if we didn't start ours every 2 to 4, were not getting them started at all. 馃榿
If you know you're in that kind of extreme cold.Maybe you should spend the money on a block heater so that your engine is warm and your oil is warm, just saying
let it warm up!
warm
Ohh okay
This is why we buy block heaters
I start small fire on top of my engine with lighter fluid , when motor starts it blows out the fire ....
if you live in any place where it gets that cold and you don't know what a block heater is, then you should just plan on staying home or moving South 馃ぃ馃ぃ馃ぃ馃ぃ馃ぃ馃ぃ馃ぃ馃ぃ
only difference is a gas fire warmed it up
That鈥檚 very contaminated oil in that pan too. There鈥檚 a fuel/oil mixture that happens through the combustion process over time and that fuel breaks the viscosity down to nothing over time which is what happened to that oil in the pan. It would do nearly the same thing at 40 degrees probably. This is why you changing your oil regularly is absolutely crucial regardless where you live. If you live in extremely cold areas you should be running thinner synthetics but in my opinion the thinner the oil or the lower viscosity oils I should say should be changed more often. Never let anyone convince you that you can change your oil on some 10,000 mile intervals if you value your engine. Especially if your engine has a turbo. Turbos are very hard on oil.
Use a decent oil. And change it waaay more than you have been. We seem to do just fine around here.
common sense would dictate if you live somewhere that cold you install a block heater
Thats some dirty oil.
