The a/c compressor has a clutch on it that engages and disengages as needed to regulate the pressures of the a/c system. When they go bad, they either lock up or don't engage at all. This one is operating normally.
Could be low pressure switch shutting it off premature due to being low on refrigerant due to having a leak.
