The man isn't wrong though... the woman on the other hand is different; she had an outstanding felony warrant. However, the search of the apartment or motel room, is illegal under the 'Illegal Search and Seizure Laws' that ARE THE SAME in every state bc, these laws fall under federal search and seizure laws - facts. The gun can not be confiscated by the officers UNTIL they find out otherwise that it's legal or not - then go from there. If legal, they have no right to seize it... Lastly, the officers needed to find out just who the room was leased to, or rented by, and whose name... this helps in determining the weapons owner and if they're straight. These officers did a half-hazard job... poor prep time and no clarification to anything and they could have done this safely and quietly, then go in... next time officers, that can and will cost you.
