I spent 4 yrs in the Navy. The ocean is something you don't want to mess with. I saw my life flash before my eyes on a few occasions. I was a Navy swimmer. Had I not been a string swimmer or had some of the training I had, I'd been dead & gone a few times. Stories too long to put in the comments. Love to see when a rescue is successful.
I've seen this before.... so human. THIS is an example of the best of humanity. ALSO shielding her from that last big wave. BRAVO truly heroic.

I grew up a bike ride from a competition surf beach and a short car ride from a few more. I’ve unknowingly swam close to sharks and sand rays. I’ve been pile drived into the bottom by “ moderate” waves. I can tell you that the ocean is no joke.
I’ve done this SO many times… almost never got a thank you. It’s very weird. Last time was a 20-something man who did thank me profusely. He realized he was in serious trouble. The water is more dangerous than most people think.

he understood how the waves worked. he got down from her so it brought her to him then he picked her up just as that last wave hit them. he definitely saved her. 🌸👍💕
the closest I ever came to drowning was in a wave pool at a water park. the waves were hitting the back wall and side wall at the same time and coming over my head. scared me bad.

So glad she was saved!! Very white foamy waters usually mean danger. I grew up by the ocean, we never swam in foamy waters. Them waters pretty and look like fun but they can be very treacherous, stay out of white foamy ocean waters.
