The runner is out. If defensive player is making an attempt on a batted ball, there is no base path for the runner. Same for baseball. He or she has to avoid the defensive player, also the runner can not make any gestures to distract the defensive player. The defender has to be able to complete the play also

You know, I don't know the rules, but I would have to say the shortstop initiated contact. She actually ran up to the base path, making no effort to go to the ball. The runner made no effort to push the SS or anything. I don't think interference was what she intended as she remained in the base path. I don't know what the call was, but I feel she should be allowed to take her base. Just my opinion.
