I've actually done it before myself but the water wasn't that hot you just looked at hot because it's cold outside
if it was dry ice it wouldn't steam when it hit the window the problem is it's only Frost it's not that cold out the cause of window to shatter or bust and he could just have hot water in there and the temperature be low to cause it to steam it might not be boiling water like he said

do not boil ever lmfso,, u can use warm to hot water depending on how cold it is, but temp change to boiling is to much especially for cheap windows
just because it didn't break doesn't mean it won't break the next time you happens to pour hot water on there.. because I know from personal experience thinking the same thing but a large crack through my windshield all the way from the left to the right so please don't follow this guy's advice
Just use room temp water 10 degrees it worked fine
until your window cracks or shatters from the extreme temperature difference. gotta be careful

If you do like room temp or cold it works the same and won’t shatter the glass it won’t happen every time but if you change glass temp that quick it expands and shatters that’s just science
