I saw kids stand a shotgun shell on top of a bb gun in the 60's and held the gun over their head and fired the gun. Without a barrel, those pellets were like rain with no velocity.

Wrong we pryed off the bullet poured out the powder set the casing in a tree about ten yards away and shot the primer with a pellet gun when we hit it it went by us and bounced around in the shed we’re in that was just the primer
