I worked for a guy that would yell repeatedly that he didn't pay you to think, he paid you to do what he said. well, one time he told me to do something that didn't make sense based on the project at hand and the instructions given. so I followed his instructions exactly. he came to check on my work because he's a micromanager and yelled at me for doing it "wrong." I said no, I did it right. you told me to do x, and I did x. he told me to "use my head" and I said "you don't pay me to think." then he yelled at me some more, and I said "do you pay me to think or not? if you want me to think, it's going to cost you extra." I quit that job soon after.

Never a place in any industry to yell or belittle a subordinate, if there is an issue that can't be handled by a discussion then termination should be done. Only time I yell is if there's a potential life of death issue or to be heard over a loud noise
