If Paul had had time to, turn on the water, drag the hose to the boat, jump in the boat, and start cleaning the boat, Paul had plenty of time to leave the before the husband got home. The wife could of ducked behind the curtain because she knows her husband isn't going to be happy that she hired someone to clean the boat after she'd been asking him to do for months.
