In the U.S. you'll get instantly fired for that. Can't even step on a rail much less get between cars. If you get "coupled up" they're supposed to get your wife to come say goodbye to you. As soon as you get uncoupled you're dead. Lots of ways to die or get fired on the railroad.
That's why in the mid 1800's someone invented the automatic train coupler so nobody has to go in-between the train cars. I can't remember who it was, so maybe someone can tell me.
