Our entire healthcare system is built around TREATING patients, not CURING them. Can you imagine the crisis that would occur if there was a cure for cancer, heart disease or diabetes?

Because it’s completely sterile and inside a sterile bag packaged in a sterile facility put in sterile containers and then shipped to your hospital and then sterilized and then a nurse has to bring it out. It’s basic math.
This is true, especially if the patient has health insurance. If there’s no insurance, the cost is greatly reduced. And we wonder why insurance is so expensive…….
It costs more than that to manufacture. Drug or in this case saline is produced under GMP manufacturing process. It is a built in safety and quality insurance process mandated by the FDA. So to insure the saline is safe these GMP (Good Manufacturing Process) rules are mandated. It’s simply not just salt water.
Im looking at this from the perspective of what it takes to run a hospital. A hospital employees trained professionals like nurses, nurse aides, respiratory, lab & X-ray technicians as well as doctors who take care of patients in the hospital, like ER, ICU, CCU, etc. and because all of these individuals have specialized training, they aren’t typically employed as minimum wage. There have employees that work 24 hrs as hospitals are open 24 hrs and patients need care around the clock. Hospitals cannot typically charge for services for more than insurance & Medicare will pay so hospitals usually mark up other services or items. And don’t forget they have to pay premiums on liability insurance as well as the need for an in house cafeteria and food to feed both employees and patients. The surgery dept needs surgical instruments that it buys from outside suppliers but the hospital has to maintain a dept that sterilizes those instruments for reuse. Linen that is used daily has to be maintsine

In a way that’s true? They get emergency Medicare benefits directly to the state! Which doesn’t actually cover the real costs. Leaving insurance and us the remaining responsibility

I hurt my back picking up something heavy, I heard my back pop before I went to the ground. Went to ER and started I need an MRI or CT of my middle back(Thoracic). The nurse practitioner stated she’s just going to do an X-ray. The Xray tech was focused on my lower back( lumbar), I told her it was my thoracic that was hurt, she left an got permission from the nurse practitioner and did both. After 7 hours she came back a said I just had sprained my back. Gave me a shot of toradol and sent me in my way. After several days I could hardly walk. Went to an orthopedic dr. And he did an MRI. Found out I had 3 compression fractures. All together it took nearly 3weeks being in pain to find out. The ER bill was over 13000.00 for a miss diagnosis.
The healthcare system in America is broken. Something is going to kill us all do I'm done with docs,hospitals and insurance companies that take your money and deny test,procedures and medications cause they don't want to pay
It is set up that way so the Insurance companies can make Huge profits... ( You ever wonder why your insurance doesn't cover everything ) After the insurance company pays ( Their secret negotiated price, the customer still gets screwed for much of the real cost! )

I believe that long ago the United States should have instituted UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE, similar to what British Citizens have. And, there should be NO medical care given to anyone who is NOT LEGALLY inside the borders of any state or territory of the United States of America. 👍🏼

My mom dying of cancer— bring her in for some more tests and this test and this test . Doctor consultation well your still stage 4 and this will kill you while your hear let’s do a couple tests and on the way out set an appointment up for some more tests and scans next week. Got you on chemo and radiation very good we’ll do some more scans and tests. Never once got any results from any test or anything different from the doctor other than this is going to kill you. 5 months fighting 200k plus billed through insurance felt like a cash grab from start to finish.

Went up the road to er sat for 2hours bleeding stopped , took me back uncovered the towels said nothing we can do for this ! Said someone would be back to clean and bandaid it! I left ! No bandaid !300.$ deductible billed to me and ins charge. Meanwhile my welfare neighbor gets free medical??? 🤔

Hospitals unfortunately have to cover their costs from all the people that illegally entered our country and need serious costly medical treatment. The saline, the inventory of them, the IV tubing, the waste when outdated product is thrown away, the experienced personnel who monitor the administration of them, etc. etc.
Voted for increase in base pay. Someone has to make up for it. Unfortunately it’s the working people. Stop raising the base pay
