Roundup does absolutely NOTHING to woody plants. It's more than likely Tordon. The same thing we use to kill trees and bushes in fence rows and pastures.

By using a herbicide on the small trees,the big trees will also die because the roots of those trees are intermingled hence the herbicide is transferred.
I might be wrong, but they could be removing sprouts that would draw away from the trees energy and spraying an antibacterial.

".... undesirable" ... to HUMANS .... Likely VERY BENEFICIAL to Nature. Most humans DON'T LIKE thorny bushes ... Honey Bees, Bumble Bees, Catapillers, amphibians and small non-poisoous snakes love and need them. Humans also don't like dandelions .....YEAH .... Humans make A LOT of STUPID choices when it comes to nature.

glyphosate... it works if cut through the bark layer.. the only living part of a tree is the outside layer under the bark.. the wood inside is just for structure.. the bark is to protect the layer that's alive...

seen this in my area. they took a chainsaw and ran it through the base of the tree. so when it dies they can come and cut a dead tree and no questions will be asked. but I got there first.
