Anyone who gleefully defends the killing of Alex Pretti is morally reprehensible. Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse, was shot and killed by federal immigration. Eyewitness accounts and video evidence indicate he was not posing a threat when he was shot by officers.To defend or celebrate a campaign of force that resulted in the death of a U.S. citizen — someone who was recorded trying to help a woman who had been pepper-sprayed by agents and who was not holding a weapon at the time of the shooting — is deeply disturbing. I hope that: State murder charges are pursued against the federal agents responsible, and any leaders who directed or endorsed this use of lethal force are held accountable. Pretti's family should file a civil lawsuit for wrongful death and character defamation against individuals, including any officials who knowingly spread false narratives about him. A pro bono attorney should take up this case on behalf of Mr. Pretti’s family to secure justice.
