This is at an extremely low temperature. Also note this isn't synthetic oil. I use 15 w40 synthetic in my truck and I've NEVER seen it close to that viscous. And yes I change my own oil. Typical internet BS. Have some common sense.

My truck uses 5W-30. I put 5W-20 in it. First the 20 is thinner yes. Winter is here and I get better oiling. I plan on leaving it for summer because I noticed a slightly higher oil pressure and that's a good thing. To much pressure and could blow seals, etc. I don't see that. So 20 will stay. I also feel circulation of the oil would be cooler upon return and be enough and not thinned down due to heat.

real world temperature plays a role in life. it may say 5w but I might run 10w it also depends on driving habits
