unpopular opinion here probably but alimony makes a bit of sense. you get married have kids, the woman or man stays at home for those 18 years with no pay or learning a skill while the other builds their career and credit. they split and because she/he wasn't in the workforce or school because the other wanted them to stay home they don't have the same skills and experience to jump into the workforce immediately n get equal pay as the one who worked all those years. they have no credit to get a good place or a car. now if they both worked and both contributed equally to the home no alimony should be awarded period. but child support should go to the sole caregiver if that's the agreement or none at all of you have a 50/50 agreement.

Bingo, I was married to one of those deadbeats that milk the system. Are the compassion for her. I told her she wanted to file a divorce. I would not oppose because I was traveling all the time I was never home. I was. I was on the road. I was always faithful to my bout, but she wasn’t to hers. She filed OK maxed out my credit cards for attorneys why she was in a relationship with the women. I felt sorry she took me for everything I have including my premarital property. All she did every day smoked drugs, Meet with her girlfriends, read books while the state supported her children by sending it counselors and aides because our daughter was handicapped.

As far as alimony goes I don’t agree with a ma having to uphold a life style of their ex wife UNLESS the mother was a stay at home mom then there should be a time period she gets the alimony but only a time period while she finds a job.
