There is a thing called Jaywalking for which a pedestrian can be ticketed. You cross when the light says walk and within the crosswalk. If there is no signage, you cross when the light changes stopping the traffic you will walk in front of.
The driver in the convertible was in the wrong but the guy walking definitely overreacted

You should still wait for the light. The cars that stop on the other side, shows that the driver has the right of way. Probably AI but it’s relatable.
The pedestrian might not have the Walk light, but a car should always slow the hell down and be ready to stop if there is anybody or anything in the street, ESPECIALLY if it's a human in the crosswalk. Even if that driver had the ROW (green light), would he really want to run over a living being who wasn't supposed to be in the street? Living or non-living could put a dent in his car at the very least.
