we have coyotes here too. but lately it's been a bobcat terrorizing the mountain. got three of my cats. a dog. my neighbor's entire chicken coop. another neighbors cat n dog. been wondering why the coyotes haven't been in the area. bobcat will eat them too. but my point being. I think you have a cat problem not a dog/coyote problem. cats won't eat the head. they play with it. cats = not domestic house cats. big cats. mountain lion, Bob etc

He must of been hanging on for dear life literally. Poor thing was holding on tight so he didn't get dragged away and they just ripped him apart. Him getting his head stuck could of prevented him from fighting back to.

I witnessed a rooster body left behind, but the head and neck were missing. That seemed spiteful. I'm no animal expert, though.
