well, government interaction stopped all of those things because people paid attention to real science. the ozone was being depleted. they stopped it by getting rid of ozone depleting gases in bottles, hairsprays and refrigerant and it fixed it. they got rid of acid rain by making coal-fired power plants scrub the air before it leaves the stacks.

i recall being told to clean my plate as people were starving in China, thanks to Nixon opening dialogue with Red China, and Exodus of manufacturing base in America overseas, there are more Americans in financial hardship today than in China. Back then we were well educated, had a strong infrastructure in comparion to today. Guess the trickle down never made it to the vast majority of Americams. I personally cannot complain but as attacks continue on education and healthcare I am concerned about those about to enter their most productive wage earning years of their ypung lives. AI is just in the early stages of major realgnment of the work place and jobs for the emerging economy. Is Musk correct and we will have to work less? i recall hearing way back then, due to automation a 4 day work week would be common place and everyone would have more leisure time. Still awaiting for that prediction to come to fruition.
