A child should NEVER be forced to do something they are afraid of. That is very abusive and wrong! The poor little boy will have lasting mental repercussions from that, and may never trust his dad again. And to think the other adults were laughing? What is wrong with them???
I got thrown into a pool at age 5 before I could swim…I hope these “parents” suffer greatly for what they did to this kid. It wasn’t my parents, it was the kids if a relative of my dad, and they caught all kinds of major hell for doing that. And I never learned how to swim either.

That child will ever remember that traumatic trip. Dad should have sat child in his lap to slide down initially inorder to curtail some of his fear. He did say he was afraid and if Dad ignored this, then I am speechless. We need to be more sensitive to the feelings of others, especially children.
