child or not, someone is in your yard, you watch as to maybe why, or you question. if not satisfied, call police, if they dont come fast enough and you are physically threatened, then you may shoot, but why always deadly ? this could have been a utility worker, someone hiding or running from danger themselves, a salesman, etc.. .
