in VietNam, the clip for an M16A1 held 20 rounds. the load was 10 clips, 200 rounds. The M16 could fire 20 rounds a second on full auto. 3-4 seconds to put a new clip, total time even at 10 seconds, gave you 100 seconds of firing time, less than 2 minutes. that's why we carried so much ammo, water. and a tooth brush.
