Bases were loaded. Replay showed the ball hit the wall so no catch. The runner from third was out (force out). The catcher then ran to third and tagged third base. The runner that was on 2nd did not advance so he was also out. Inning ending double play. I was at this game and none of us knew what originally happened. Craziest playoff game play

this wasn't a double play. the ball hitting the wall means the batter is not out so the runner at the plate is out due to a force out

why would that be a force play ? assuming bases were loaded, when the ball is caught in the outfield, it is not longer a force play. The runner at third must "tag up" and then can advance at his own risk. If the out fielder were to not make the catch, then, assuming loaded bases, all runners are forced to advance. However, if bases are NOT loaded, no runner is for ed to advance regardless of whether the outfielder catches the ball or not.

How is that an out if he caught it off the wall after it bounced out his glove

Here is what I saw and what I know of baseball. Ball bounced off the center fielder’s glove, hit the wall and came back to the center fielder’s glove. Ruling is not a fly ball catch! Cannot use any part of the field to assist with a fly ball. Sooooo! It became a routine play with the ball now in play like any ball on the ground or off the wall. If bases were loaded then as soon as the ball hit the wall the runners HAD to run. That is why the runner was out at the plate without the catcher having to tag him. And because the runner from second never ran to third the catcher was smart enough to run to third base to complete the double play.

it hit only his glove in the outfield, an out, force at home, double play...

The ball hit the fielder's glove and then the wall, the catch is not an out. On the throw in with the bases loaded, it is a force at the plate. 1 out. You then see the catcher jogging towards 3rd. As the bases were loaded and the batter no out, the runner on 2nd has to advance. He didn't. Catcher tags 3rd, force out. Video just cut too early. Double play.

pretty sure that was a bad call. if his catch caused the batter to be out, no other runners had to run. the runner on 3rd could have tagged & ran but still would have to be tagged as it's not a force

First of all it’s a home run once the ball hit the yellow line, but it was never a catch now if the bases are loaded and he bobbles the ball off the wall then there’s a force at home because the runner has to advance there for being a force out this is easy give me something harder

Other than the announcer being wrong I don't see what the issue is. Runner from 2nd was tagged out at the plate. Good throw.

Ball bounced off of the wall. If the ball hits the glove and is bobbled, the runner can go without tagging. No force. Was it even a catch?

Ball came out of glove, hit the wall, center to short, to catcher 8-6-2 fielders choice.

When the ball hit the wall, it’s no longer a fly out. No force out at the plate, so the run should score.

It appears to touch the wall… which means it was not an out on the batter. This created a force play at home.

I don't understand why a force play at the plate unless he never tagged up at third.

IDK how that was a double play, after the ball went in glove and came out it hit the wall ending the try of catching the fly ball factoring in the rules of the game so there should have only been one out made at plate

how can it be a force out at home, as well as an out by a catch? make it make sense. I'm not the smartest man

There is no force out at home plate, but may be an out if he didn’t tag up from the catch.

Looks like it was a double play force at home and force at third by catcher running to third after home

The fly ball bounced off of the heal of the fielders glove and he caught the rebound. If, it hit the wall it would have bounced at a different angle. into the stands. "Out"! The play at the plate was a tie. Runner touched plate at the same time the ball touched the catchers glove. I never saw a signal from the home plate umpire, so the 3rd base umpire probably called the play. "Safe"! That's the way I see it!

The catcher ran back to third because the runner left third base too early. There was no force play at home. The ball was caught.
