When I was a kid, we ate a lot of fish that we caught ourselves. One of the first things I learned was how to clean what I caught (prepare it for cooking). A by-product of this process was learning when the fish I was about to clean was a female full of eggs. Being the kids we were, my brother and I taught ourselves how to squeeze the eggs out before starting. We pretended it was caviar. Once. After that, it became part of the doughbait we made up for catfish.
